Water for Life: A Borehole Well for Embrace Childcare Ministries – Dove School

Every morning at Embrace Childcare Ministries’ Dove School, nearly 300 orphaned and vulnerable children wake up with the same hope every child carries — to learn, to grow, and to dream about a future filled with possibility.

But today, something as basic as water stands between survival and thriving.

For years, the campus depended on a hand-dug well, carefully pumped through a filtration system so children and staff could have safe drinking water. It was never abundant, but it was enough.

Until the rains stopped.

Extended droughts over recent months have caused the well to run dry. What once sustained the community can no longer provide a consistent source of water. Each day now brings uncertainty — uncertainty about drinking water, hygiene, cooking, and basic care for the children who call this campus home.

Ironically, the dormitories were built with toilets and showers, yet they sit unused — not because of lack of vision, but because there is no reliable water source to supply them.

A Turning Point

On March 27, a team from the Uganda Water Project will arrive to conduct a professional assessment to determine the best location to drill a deep borehole well — a long-term, sustainable solution that can serve the campus for decades.

This marks the beginning of a transformational project.

Phase 1 — Assessment & Drilling

Cost: $12,000

This phase will identify and drill a borehole capable of producing a dependable underground water supply — restoring stability and hope to the campus.

Phase 2 — Water Distribution System (Estimated $25,000–$40,000)

Once the well site is confirmed, water lines, pumps, and storage tanks will be installed to supply:

  • Dormitories
  • Classrooms and offices
  • Kitchens
  • Gardens that help feed the children

For the first time, toilets and showers built years ago will finally function as intended — providing dignity, hygiene, and health.

More Than Water

This project is not simply about infrastructure.

It is about transformation.

Clean water means:

  • Children can stay healthy and attend school consistently.
  • Proper sanitation reduces disease.
  • Gardens can grow food sustainably.
  • Staff can care for children with dignity and safety.
  • A community moves from instability to sustainability.

At Embrace Childcare Ministries, the vision has always been clear:

to see children move from surviving… to thriving… so they can fulfill their God-given purpose.

Water is the foundation that makes that vision possible.

An Invitation

Today, you have an opportunity to help provide something every child deserves — a reliable source of life-giving water.

Will you consider investing in a borehole well that will serve generations of children?

Your generosity will not just drill a well.

It will restore health.

It will unlock dignity.

It will create opportunity.

It will give water — and with it, hope — for life.
